Here I’ve listed some of the more popular tDCS devices on the market available for anyone to purchase. I will do a quick summary of each along with some pros and cons of each and a link to the products website in case you are interested in possibly purchasing a device.
The Brain Stimulator
As you can see with the Brain Stimulator it is very straight forward to use as it has an LED indicator for when the device is either on or off, a knob for adjusting the current and 2 wires for either anodal stimulation (red wire) and cathodal stimulation (black wire). You can also purchase additional items from their website including head bands (to hold the electrodes in place), self adhesive electrodes, alligator clip adapters and Amrex sponge adapters.
The current cost of the device is only $90 which is a good price for the quality and functionality of the device, not to mention the reliability.

Foc.us
The Foc.us headset has had a lot of publicity lately being featured in Cnet, WIRED and even Popular Mechanics. The Foc.us headset has been targeted towards gamers with an array consisting of a 2×2 electrode placement. A neat feature with Foc.us is that it allows extra sponges to be plugged into the back of the device for use with addition placement montages. It can also be controlled via bluetooth from your smartphone using the app which can control the intensity of the current and even the length of your session.
Although there have been reported safety issues with this device such as sometimes the voltage limits do not operate as specified in the manual and has been reported to have current spikes.
The current price of the foc.us headset is $250, it’s a little steep but has some great features not found with other devices.

The tDCS-Kit is a very simple tDCS device with the bare essentials. It is powered by a single 9v battery with 2 cords for the anode and cathode electrodes and the current stays at a constant 2 milliamps. If you are looking to get into tDCS without spending a lot of money then this device is for you, with a low cost of only $40.

tDCS Transcranial Stimulation Kit
The tDCS Transcranial Stimulation Kit was probably one of the first safe commercial tDCS devices. Each device is carefully calibrated and safetied. The device comes with a screen and buttons for controlling the current. It also has a bunch of accessories like sponges, electrode wires and a montage kit. This device also comes with a 30 day money back policy in case it’s not what you are looking for.
The cost of this device right now is a little more expensive than the others, at $380 it is a very expensive device but very reliable and safe.
